Important Notice
RetroVault is a video game preservation directory: no game file is stored on our servers, the links point to third-party platforms. The rules vary widely from one country to another, and owning an original copy does not automatically make downloading lawful: check what applies where you live before downloading anything.
1. What RetroVault is
RetroVault is a directory dedicated to preserving video game heritage. We index classic games and point to where they can be found. No game file is stored on our servers: every link points to third-party platforms such as Internet Archive, Vimm's Lair or 1fichier. Our job is to catalogue, verify and link.
2. Your responsibilities
By using RetroVault, you agree to download only games for which you already own an original copy, and only where the law of your country permits it — in many jurisdictions, owning the original is not enough to authorise downloading. You remain solely responsible for what you do with the files. RetroVault cannot be held liable for any unlawful use of these files.
3. Copyright and takedown requests
We respect intellectual property. If you hold rights over content indexed here and want it removed, write to contact@retrovault.ch or use the contact form and select the DMCA / Rights subject. Include the title concerned, the URL of the RetroVault page, and evidence that you hold the rights. We reply within 24-48 hours and remove the entry as soon as the request is verified. Since we host no files, removal applies to the entry and the link: for the file itself, please contact the platform hosting it.

4. Cookies and data
Here is exactly what runs on this site: technical cookies (your language, theme and session), without which the site does not work; Google Analytics 4 for audience measurement; Google AdSense and Adcash for advertising, which set their own cookies and may personalise ads; and an internal visit counter (IP address, page views) to track traffic. We sell no data to anyone. Under the GDPR, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at contact@retrovault.ch. You can also block these cookies in your browser, or turn off ad personalisation in your Google settings.
5. Your personal data
The details, no runaround.
Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, objection, portability. One address, contact@retrovault.ch, and we answer within a month. If the answer does not satisfy you, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr), the French supervisory authority, or with your own country's authority.
- Contact form: name, email address and message. Used only to reply to you. Legal basis: your consent, since you are the one writing. Kept for twelve months after the last exchange.
- Visit log: IP address, page viewed, browser, referring page. Used to measure traffic and spot bots scraping the site. Legal basis: legitimate interest in protecting the service. Kept for the last 8,000 visits — a few days — then overwritten.
- Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Adcash set their own cookies. Legal basis: your consent, collected by the banner on your first visit. Retention set by those providers.
- Transfers outside the European Union: Google and Adcash process some data in the United States, under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. Site publisher
RetroVault is published on a personal basis, with no company behind it. The site sells nothing and asks for no payment: it is funded solely by the advertising displayed. For any question, legal or otherwise, there is one official channel: contact@retrovault.ch.
7. Hosting
The site is hosted by Scaleway SAS (AS12876), in a datacenter located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Game files themselves are hosted by third-party platforms entirely independent of RetroVault.
8. Limitation of liability
Outbound links lead to sites we do not control: we are not responsible for their content, their availability, or what they do with your data. The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of availability or integrity of remote files. We may change or remove any content at any time, and this notice may evolve: the date below indicates the version currently in force.
