Atmosphere v1.12.0 Released: Nintendo Switch Custom Firmware Now Supports Official Firmware 23.0.0
⚠️ Update as of September 30, 2026: Atmosphere moved to version 1.12.0 on September 27, 2026, this time bringing stable compatibility with official Switch firmware 23.0.0. The 1.11.2 release described below, which targeted firmware 22.5.0, is now outdated: update your custom firmware to 1.12.0 before moving your console to 23.0.0, and remember to update fusee manually as part of that (the old fusee-primary file no longer works). Note that, due to changes Nintendo made in 23.0.0, Atmosphere can no longer launch browser applets (systemWeb, openWeb, LibAppletOff) without crashing; a dedicated patch set has been included to work around this.
The Atmosphere-NX team has released version 1.11.2 of its popular Nintendo Switch custom firmware, shortly after Nintendo rolled out official firmware 22.5.0. This update brings basic support for the new system firmware, allowing homebrew scene users to stay current without sacrificing their setup. Nintendo's firmware 22.5.0 notably introduced a redesigned Nintendo eShop layout on the original Switch, aligning it with the Switch 2 experience.
On the technical side, Atmosphere 1.11.2 ships with hbl 2.4.5 and hbmenu 3.6.1. The team also updated the build toolchain to use GCC 16 and the latest newlib release via the most recent devkitA64 and devkitARM toolkits, a modernization that improves the overall quality of generated code. The usual “general system stability improvements” round out the changelog. One important note for those upgrading from older versions: fusee must be manually updated, as the old fusee-primary file no longer exists and will not work.
The update is available now via the project's official GitHub page. To download Atmosphere 1.11.2, head over to the Atmosphere GitHub releases page.
