b2 updates: the multiplatform BBC Micro emulator continues its development
TheBBC Micro (British Broadcasting Corporation Microcomputer), Acorn's educational computer launched in 1981 in the UK Uni, is perhaps not the best known machine in France, but it is one of the most influential in the history of computing. It was on a BBC Micro that the future founders of ARM developed their first RISC processor. And its emulation scene remains very alive.
🖥️ b2, what is it?
b2 is one of the most active BBC Micro emulators at the moment. It runs on Windows, Linux and macOS and offers precise emulation of the BBC Micro and its many variants (BBC B, BBC Master 128, Electron...). It supports floppy disks as well as ROM cartridges, current devices and development tools.
The April 5, 2026 build is a development update, no detailed changelog, but the project remains in active development which is already good news for enthusiasts.
