Piko Interactive Revives the bleem! Name With Bleemcast, a Retro Game Service in Beta

Piko Interactive launched the worldwide beta of Bleemcast during Gamescom 2026 week, where the publisher demonstrated it on its booth in the retro area. The announcement was picked up on August 29, 2026, and puts a name loaded with history back into circulation: bleem!, the commercial PlayStation emulator that took on Sony in court in the late 1990s, and whose trademark Piko acquired.

The publisher pitches the service as a Netflix equivalent for retro gaming. The library sits on the phone, which acts as both game machine and controller: an in-house casting technology, patent pending according to Piko, sends the picture to any compatible screen with what the publisher claims is zero latency. The business model comes in three tiers: free ad-supported access to a selection of games rotated every month, an ad-supported subscription unlocking the full catalogue, and an ad-free subscription.

The catalogue is currently the offer's main limitation. It consists solely of titles already published by Piko Interactive, a company best known for buying up the rights to forgotten 16-bit games. The publisher says it intends to expand it with new productions built on its own licences, then convince other catalogue holders to join, with the ambition of turning Bleemcast into a go-to destination for retro gaming. The context calls for caution, though: the Bleem.net crowdfunding campaign failed last year, forcing Piko to break the original project into smaller pieces.

The beta is available from the service's official download page, which currently offers the 64-bit Windows 10 or later client, with iOS and Android versions announced by the publisher. The bleemcast.com website gathers upcoming announcements and access to the Discord and Facebook communities, where the first getting-started and casting setup tips are being posted.
