Commodore 64: C64-Live transforms browser emulation into remote multiplayer
We know emulation as an often very personal pleasure: you launch a ROM, plug in a controller, and you travel alone into the past. C64-Live wants to break this model. This new brick of the C64-Cade project allows to host a Commodore 64 session in the browser, to invite a second player to take the joystick 2, and to let spectators follow the game in live ect.
🕹️ A shared machine, not just an emulator
The concept is simple, but brilliant: a player logs in, loads a cartridge, disk image, PRG file, or snapshot, then shares access. The second player then joins the same virtual machine. Result: we're no longer just talking about web emulation, but about a real multiplayer experience designed like a retro sofa... without the sofa.
👀 Spectators, chat, public lobby
The other clever idea is to have added a social layer. C64-Live isn't just for two-player: spectators can watch the session, chat in real time, and join a lobby to find out what's going on. Emulation becomes here a meeting place, almost a mini-arcade in the browser.
