"The Birth of a Cultural Icon": A Kickstarter Documentary Celebrating the Commodore 64

Nicola and Anthony Caulfield, the British duo behind the acclaimed documentaries Bedrooms to Billions and The Rubber Keyed Wonder about the ZX Spectrum, have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their next project: The Commodore 64 - The Birth of a Cultural Icon. The film will trace the complete history of the C64, from its creation in 1982 to its status as a cultural icon, including the games and musicians that defined the platform.

The campaign, launched on June 19 with a goal of £55,000, reached nearly 50% of its funding in less than twelve hours. The documentary will combine never-before-seen interviews with engineers, technicians and marketing executives involved in the creation and distribution of the Commodore 64, alongside testimonies from game developers, musicians and fans who lived through the machine's golden age.

A preservation project following the ZX Spectrum

Having explored the birth of the British gaming industry with Bedrooms to Billions and dedicated an entire film to the ZX Spectrum, Gracious Films naturally turns its attention to the other pillar of 1980s home computing.
