Commodore 77: a Cyberpunk 2077-styled Commodore 64, built with CD Projekt Red
The recently revived Commodore brand used Gamescom, in the week of 25 August 2026, to unveil the Commodore 77, made in collaboration with CD Projekt Red. It is a version of the Commodore 64 Ultimate designed to look like an object lifted straight from the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
Under the hood, the machine follows the C64 Ultimate blueprint: a hardware recreation built on an AMD Artix-7 XC7A100T FPGA, here clocked at 77 MHz against 1 MHz for the original processor, rather than software emulation. Commodore claims compatibility with about 99 percent of the roughly 10,000 games and programs in the C64 library.
A breadbox that has been through a lot. The yellow case is scuffed, tagged and covered in half-peeled stickers, with a metal plate over the function-key row and a BASIC 2.0 boot screen reworked to fit the dystopian mood. The console ships with an exclusive 2 MB demo cartridge in an Arasaka design inspired by the game's shards.
The Commodore 77 is up for pre-order at 377 dollars, with delivery expected in early 2027. Details and the order form are on Commodore's official page.
