Diddy Kong Racing joins the list of N64 classics ported to the Sega Dreamcast
Following several other Nintendo 64 classics ported to the Dreamcast in recent months, it's now Diddy Kong Racing's (Rare, 1997) turn to make the jump. A developer known as Bruce, working alongside Falco Girgis, is using the game's decompilation project to rebuild a native port running on Sega's 128-bit hardware.
Early demo footage, shared notably on YouTube, shows the game already running roughly 10 frames per second faster than the original N64 version, with four times the display resolution and support for progressive scan output. Earlier builds suffered from audio stuttering, an issue that the pair's latest optimization work appears to have resolved.

The project, still under active development, has no announced release date at this time, as both developers continue fine-tuning performance and audio rendering. It fits into a broader trend in the Dreamcast homebrew scene, which has been churning out unofficial ports of iconic N64-era titles over the past few months.
