DoDonPachi Resurrection Reignite: Cave Reveals A Wild Battle Royale Mode For Its Classic Bullet Hell Revival
DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu, one of Cave's most iconic shoot 'em ups, is coming back to PC via Steam in an ambitious remaster called DoDonPachi Resurrection Reignite. Announced in April 2026, this remaster goes beyond a simple graphical refresh: it adds new stages, a new character, new music, and accessibility options to welcome both newcomers and genre veterans. A free demo has been available on Steam since June 9, 2026.
The project's big surprise is the Royale mode, revealed on June 15, 2026. It is an online versus mode where players from around the world compete in real-time bullet hell rounds, using collectible items to disrupt opponents' runs and reduce their field of vision. The comparison to games like Tetris 99 or Super Mario Bros. 35 is apt: DoDonPachi Royale transforms the classic shmup into a frantic social experience, far beyond the leaderboard competition that previously defined the genre.
The game will launch in seven languages including English. To try it right now, the free demo for DoDonPachi Resurrection Reignite is available on the official Steam page. For those new to bullet hell games, YouTube tutorial videos and community wikis on DoDonPachi are an excellent starting point for mastering the basics before the full release.
