Evercade Nexus in Hand: First Impressions Ahead of October Launch
After the official announcement in April, Evercade is shifting into the next gear by showing its new handheld Nexus for the first time in hands. A demo video released this week lifts the veil on the real ergonomics and some new features.
The Nexus is clearly the most ambitious product ever released by Blaze Entertainment. Compared to the EXP-R, the improvements are substantial:
- 5.89-inch IPS displaywith high brightness
- Dual analog stick - a first for an Evercade
- TATE Mode: screen switches to portrait for vertical shoot’em ups
- Bluetooth Audio integrated for wireless play
- Compatible with the entire range of existing Evercade cartridges
The big new feature revealed in the video is E verSync: wireless connectivity between two Nexuses that allows local multiplayer play, and even to share a cartridge with a friend who doesn't own it. A direct response to Android handhelds who bank on streaming.
The Nexus retails £169/$199 and will launch in October 2026. All units come with a Banjo-Kazooie Double Packcartridge pack. The N64 color version (Nexus 64 Edition) is already sold out for pre-order. The console will be presented to the general public during Gamescom in August.
