GAMEMT E5 ModX: the handheld whose screen detaches to become a Bluetooth controller for your smartphone
The Chinese handheld scene continues to innovate in terms of format. After the ANBERNIC RG Rotate and its pivoting screen, here is the GAMEMT E5 ModX, a device whose screen detaches entirely to transform into something quite unprecedented.
🎮 The concept: modular above all
The E5 ModX has an architecture in two parts separable by a magnetic system that:
- The upper part contains the screen and the hardware, it’s the “brain” of the handheld
- The lower part contains ient controls: D-pad, ABXY buttons, sticks, triggers
When the two are assembled, you have a classic Android handheld in vertical format. But you can remove the screen and clip in its place a MagSafe adapter, your smartphone then attaches directly to the controller part via Bluetooth. The “controller” becomes a gaming grip for mobile, like MCON controller.
The handheld can also work in a horizontal position and in TATE mode (vertical screen for arcade games). Three uses in one device.

⚠ ️The point of vigilance: the chipset
Let’s be honest: the 2018 Helio P60 is an agingchipset. On handhelds that have used it in the past (like SouljaBoy's TRDR Pocket), performance was often disappointing. With this chipset, expect decent emulation up to the PSP and Dreamcast, not beyond. The concept is brilliant, the hardware execution remains to be confirmed with real reviews.
📅 Availability
