Released July 2 in Japan, M2's Ganbare Goemon Daishuugo compilation secretly includes Crisis Force, Konami's very last Famicom shoot'em up, never reissued since its original release.

The Ganbare Goemon Daishuugo! compilation, developed by M2 and published by Konami on July 2, 2026 in Japan for Switch, PS5 and Steam, brings together thirteen games from the beloved action-platformer series. But the most curious players quickly discovered a major hidden bonus: Crisis Force, Konami's very last Famicom shoot'em up, released in 1991 and never reissued since its original release.

Built around the custom VRC4 chip, Crisis Force is a vertically scrolling shoot'em up with four-directional scrolling, massive boss battles and a soundtrack composed by Konami's in-house band. The game long remained a highly sought-after collector's item, never legally available anywhere outside of its original Famicom cartridge.

"If we'd missed this opportunity, we wouldn't have been able to justify reissuing it anywhere else," producer Ryosaku Ueno explained, on why the game was secretly folded into the compilation.

Crisis Force is unlocked via a hidden code accessible from the compilation's credits menu. For now, Ganbare Goemon Daishuugo! is only available in Japan, and even the Steam version is region-locked: no Western release has been announced so far.
