Gearsystem, Gearboy, Geargrafx, Gearlynx: developer drhelius updates its entire suite of emulators
You may not know drhelius by its name, but its emulators are well known to fans of rare machines. In the space of a week, he just pushed updates on fourof his projects simultaneously. Quick overview.
🎮 Gearsystem 3.9.2, Sega Master System & Game Gear
The reference SMS/GG emulator is upgraded to version 3.9.2 with improvements focused on debugging tools: better trace logger, improved call stack, better performance for auto-symbol, and a reworked PSG viewer. For homebrew developers targeting the Master System, this is a welcome update.
🟡 Gearboy 3.8.0, Game Boy & Game Boy Color
The GB/GBC emulator also receives its update with various bug fixes and improvements. Gearboy is among the most accurate Game Boy emulators available open-source, and each release refines the compatibility even further.
⚪ Geargrafx 1.7.3, PC Engine & TurboGrafx-16
The PC Engine, NEC's cult console released in 1987, is one of the most difficult machines to emulate properly because of its very precise timings. Geargrafx continues its precision work with this version 1.7.3.
🟠 Gearlynx 1.2.4, Atari Lynx
The Atari Lynx, the first color portable console in history (1989), remains a machine little covered by mainstream emulators. Gearlynx is one of the few serious projects dedicated to it, and version 1.2.4 continues its development.
