Hyperkin brings back its SupaBoy portable SNES in two new colorways

Unveiled at Classic Game Fest in Austin (July 24-26, 2026), Hyperkin's SupaBoy is getting a new lease on life. This handheld, which plays original SNES and Super Famicom cartridges directly using a "system on a chip" approach, will be reissued in fall 2026 in two new colorways named Crimson and Prime, both housed in transparent plastic casing.

The Crimson version evokes the Famicom's iconic color scheme, while Prime sports the button colors of the PAL SNES and Japanese Super Famicom. Hyperkin made the announcement on its official X/Twitter account with the message "Introducing SupaBoy Crimson and SupaBoy Prime. Releasing Fall 2026."

A third life for a fifteen-year-old concept

First launched back in 2012, the SupaBoy has already been reissued twice, as the SupaBoy S in 2016 and the SupaBoy SFC in 2018, the latter criticized by part of the community for a display considered blurry. Hyperkin has not yet confirmed whether this issue has been fixed on the new Crimson and Prime models, nor has it announced official pricing at this stage.
