AYANEO reveals the KONKR Pocket Advance, an unabashed Game Boy Advance clone running Android

AYANEO is no longer hiding its inspiration: during a livestream held on July 31, 2026, the brand's CEO, Arthur, unveiled the first physical unit of the KONKR Pocket Advance, a horizontal handheld console modelled directly on the Game Boy Advance. KONKR is AYANEO's sub-brand dedicated to more accessible retro devices, and this new handheld is its most direct illustration yet.

The device keeps the 3:2 aspect ratio LCD screen but bumps it up to 3.5 inches with a native resolution of 960 x 640, far higher than the original GBA's, while keeping a ratio that displays GBA games without distortion. It weighs 224 grams versus 188 grams for the original, with dimensions of 151.3 x 82.4 x 22 mm. It will come in two colourways, navy blue and orange, with a D-pad and ABXY buttons made of conductive rubber.

An Android handheld, not a simple dedicated-chip console

Unlike a basic dedicated-chip GBA clone, the KONKR Pocket Advance runs Android and packs AYANEO's in-house software ecosystem: AYASpace for retro game management, AYAHome as a desktop launcher, and AYASetting for system settings. It benefits from a USB-C port, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack and an old-school volume wheel. During the demo, the device ran GBA games such as Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, and The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, but its spec sheet suggests emulation capability going well beyond that, up to the PlayStation 2 according to AYANEO.

Price and release date haven't been announced yet, with the brand sticking to this hardware reveal for now. Given AYANEO's strategy on previous lineups, a limited-time pre-order or crowdfunding phase is likely in the coming months.
