Mega Splatterhouse: the Mega Drive port of Namco's classic is nearly done and aims for a legal release
The developer of Mega Splatterhouse, the unofficial Mega Drive / Genesis port of Namco's 1988 arcade beat 'em up, says the game is now "feature complete". Monster Bath Games is finishing level 5, and only level 6 remains to be built. Cleanup and tweaking will follow: color palettes, music and sound effects, and enemy AI.
The release method has not been decided. The developer says they want to contact Namco or its partners about a legal release of the game "with the little extras", adding that they care less about money than about the project being handled properly. They also want to avoid a free release being copied and sold on AliExpress. The outcome remains uncertain: a deal with Namco would have little real precedent for a project like this.
A project fans already know
Monster Bath Games previously offered a free Halloween demo in 2024. No download of the full game is available for now: the project has no announced release date, and we will keep following it.
