Metro Siege: The Final Fight & Streets of Rage Tribute Beat 'Em Up Smashes Its Kickstarter Goal
Years after it was first announced, Metro Siege is finally moving towards release. Developed by John Tsakiris at Enable Software and published by BitBeamCannon, this side-scrolling beat 'em up for one or two players wears its Final Fight and Streets of Rage influences proudly while carving out its own identity amid urban riots, rival gangs and street brawls.
The Metro Siege Kickstarter campaign has comfortably blown past its target: with 23 days still to go at the time of writing, it has already raised €49,207 against an original goal of just €16,000. Backers who go for the digital tier (€13) get access to all three versions of the game, while physical editions come with collectible cards, stickers, pins and posters.
Three platforms, one game: Amiga 500, Neo Geo and PC
The game will launch simultaneously on Amiga 500 (CD and floppy editions), Neo Geo (MVS and AES cartridges) and PC via Steam and Itch.io. Two playable characters have been revealed so far: Kim, a suspended police officer investigating her father's mysterious death, and Alex, the operator of an MMA gym. Gameplay includes blocking, parries and downed attacks, alongside a large arsenal of punches, kicks, knees and special moves to clear the streets of rival gangs. A free playable demo based on the Amiga version is available on the official site, while the game's Itch.io page walks players through the controls and how to get started.
