My Famicase Exhibition 2026: the 20th edition celebrates imaginary Famicom cartridges

The METEOR store in Tokyo is hosting for the 20th consecutive year the My Famicase Exhibition, the annual exhibition that invites artists from around the world to imagine Famicom cartridge covers for fictional games. A celebration of creativity and 8-bit nostalgia which stands out this year for its particularly anticipated anniversary edition.

The concept since 2006

Launched in 2006 by METEOR, the My Famicase Exhibition asks hundreds of artists to graphically design the box and label of a Famicom cartridge for a game that does not exist. The graphic constraints are inspired by the 8-bit era, but the concepts can be completely free, from platform games to science fiction RPGs and purely imaginary genres.

Over the years, the event has become an unmissable event for fans of pixel art and retro gaming culture, bringing together participants from more than 30 countries. METEOR also publishes an art book containing all the designs submitted each year.

20 years of imaginary cartridges
