Nintendo 3DS: transparent cases like the Game Boy Color are coming for the 3DS family
The trend of transparent shells that reveal the internal circuitry of a console - popularized by the Game Boy Color Clear and the Pikachu edition in 1998 - returns to the Nintendo 3DS. A manufacturer has just announced clear cases for the 3DS XL and the 2DS XL, two of the most modified Nintendo consoles in the community.
What these shells offer
The new shells, available in several transparent shades (clear total, smoky blue, purple...), replace the entire console shell. Once installed, the circuit boards, battery, and internal components are visible through the shell - exactly as on the “clear” models » legendaries of the Game Boy era.
Installation requires a Tri-Wing screwdriver (essential for opening Nintendo consoles) and approximately 30 minutes. The 3DS community is already very accustomed to hardware modding, especially for IPS backlights and new analog sticks. - these shells are part of this tradition.
