Polymega Remix: pre-orders open, and the original console receives a free upgrade
Two good news in one for Polymega fans. Playmaji has just announced simultaneously the opening of pre-orders for the Polymega Remix and a major hardware overhaul of the main console, with free upgrades for all those who already previously ordered.
🔌 Polymega Remix, the Polymega for your PC
The Polymega Remix is a modu the USB-C at $199 which allows you to use the Polymega ecosystem without purchasing the dedicated console. You plug the Remix to your Windows PC, you launch the Polymega app, and you can insert your retro cartridges and discs for dumping them into your digital library.
Compatible with existing Polymega modules (NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, PS1, Saturn...) cartridges and integrated optical drive for CD games. Once your collection is loaded, you unplug the Remix and take your entire library with you, on your laptop, your Steam Deck, or any compatible device.
Production is completed, units are on their way to the Playmaji warehouses. Delivery expected in May 2026. Japanese pre-orders are going through World Game Express with local delivery also in May.
⚡ Re-engineered Unit Base, free upgrade
The surprise of the announcement concerns the main console. Playmaji recognizes that “the production faced well-known challenges,” and decided to respond by almost entirely re-engineering the Polymega Base Unit. The new version brings:
- More CPU cores
- Higher clock frequencies
- Double the RAM
- Increased internal storage
- Quieter operation
- Noticeable improvement of
N64performance, known weakness of the original version
Good news for existing pre-orders: all will automatically be upgraded to the new hardware with no additional cost or action required. Pre-orders for new customers will reopen in early summer 2026.
