Mike Chi revealed a stripped-back take on his high-end range on 22 August 2026. Native 2560x1440p output, HDR10 CRT simulation, analogue inputs only and shipping since 24 August.

Mike Chi, the designer behind the RetroTINK boxes, announced the RetroTINK-6X CE on 22 August 2026, a video scaler aimed at consoles and computers with analogue output. It sells for $230 before tax in the US, with international pricing including VAT and import fees. Notably, this is not a pre-order: shipping began on 24 August 2026, with a stated lead time of a few days to two weeks depending on order volume.

The 6X CE inherits the image processing engine of the range's 4K models but focuses purely on analogue inputs: VGA, SCART, YPbPr, S-video and composite. It outputs a native 2560x1440p signal running the full 300 MHz ceiling of HDMI 1.4b, and also handles 1920x1080p120 as well as a 3840x1080p60 mode designed for CRT masks, which the maker describes as quasi-4K.

The 4K range's CRT simulation, at a third of the price. The unit carries the 12-bit linear light pipeline of the flagship models, with true HDR10, energy conservation scanlines, spatial redistribution masks and variable-duration MPRT black frame insertion. In other words, most of what built the RetroTINK-4K's reputation for CRT rendering, in a far more affordable box.

The reception in the video modding scene has been warm. Engineer Voultar, a respected voice in the field, summed it up in a sentence: "This is a real, finished product that WORKS. The price is nuts." The full product page and orders are on the official RetroTINK store, and the introduction post covering settings and firmware sits on the brand's official blog.
