shadPS4 reaches a new milestone with version 0.16.0: local multiplayer, a new audio engine, and 111 games now playable on Windows.

The shadPS4 team released version 0.16.0 of its PlayStation 4 emulator on June 4, 2026, described as the project's biggest update to date. Codenamed "Plutie-fueled," this release touches nearly every part of the software: emulation accuracy, graphics rendering, audio, controller support, user experience and development infrastructure.

Among the most notable additions are a new OpenAL-based audio backend, initial support for the PlayStation Camera, and a brand new local multiplayer feature. Numerous Vulkan fixes also reduce crashes across a wide range of hardware configurations, while a large batch of mipmapping fixes corrects texture issues and visual artifacts present in several games.

111 games now playable on Windows

On the compatibility side, six new titles join the list of playable games, including Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Inside and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The emulator now claims 111 playable games on Windows and 144 on Linux. To get started, simply grab the archive for your platform from the 0.16.0 release page on GitHub or the official website, extract it, then add your own firmware modules (legally extracted from your PS4 console) along with your games named after their CUSA serial numbers. A quickstart guide is available on the project's website to walk newcomers through every step.
