Traveller ULW10: Unico Readies A 10-Inch 4:3 Monitor For Vintage Consoles

Finding a decent CRT in 2026 is increasingly an ordeal, between soaring prices and tubes giving up the ghost. Unico, a company based in Reno, Nevada, offers a pragmatic answer with the Traveller ULW10: a 10-inch LCD monitor in 4:3, pitched as a desktop alternative to period professional monitors.

The connections are aimed squarely at pre-HDMI machines. The screen accepts RGB (RGBs) and VGA for older hardware, plus an HDMI input for modern consoles. The chassis includes carrying handles and, above all, a detachable rear compartment designed to hold a compatible console and its cables, turning the whole thing into a portable gaming station. Three finishes are planned: Cream White, Studio Gray and a red-and-white scheme that nods to the Famicom.

The maker openly admits it is not chasing raw performance. "ULW10 isn't trying to be the best conventional monitor. It's trying to give you an experience conventional monitors don't", Unico sums up on its project page. The pitch therefore rests on format and use rather than latency or colour accuracy, two areas where the brand has so far published no figures at all.

The campaign is in its pre-launch phase on Kickstarter, where it has already gathered more than 900 followers signed up for launch notifications. Pricing is not official, although several outlets mention an entry point around 279 dollars as an early bird offer, a figure worth treating cautiously until Unico confirms it. The maker detailed its technical choices, notably dropping composite input for lack of internal space, in a development post published on 3 August 2026.
