Jay Smith, creator of the original Vectrex, joins the Vectrex Mini project as a consultant. The perfect moment to reveal the announced game lineup for the console.

On June 3, 2026, David Oghia, the man behind the Vectrex Mini revival project on Kickstarter, announced news as unexpected as it is touching: Jay Smith, creator of the original Vectrex released in 1982, has officially joined the adventure as a consultant. A weighty blessing for a project aiming to bring GCE's famous vector display console back to life in miniature form.

According to Oghia, it was unthinkable to build a new Vectrex without securing the agreement and support of its original creator. After several months spent finalising their agreement, he travelled all the way to Colorado to meet Jay Smith in person, an experience he describes as simply magical.

Eleven confirmed games, and one title kept secret

The launch lineup was also revealed on this occasion. It notably includes Mine Storm, Bedlam Blitz!, Fortress of Narzod, Heads Up, Polar Rescue, Spike Spinball, Web Wars, Clean Sweep, Hyper Chase, Berzerk and Zombie Apocalypse, eleven classics from the early vector era of GCE. A twelfth title remains under wraps for now, with the team promising further announcements in the coming weeks for backers of the campaign.
