3-D Asteroids
Synopsis
As the name suggests, 3-D Asteroids is a demo created by John Seghers featuring 3D asteroids. According to John, this demo was created in response to the GCC version of Asteroids for the 7800 (then called 3-D Asteroids) that was being created at the same time. The goal was to demonstrate that the 5200 could also display asteroids in 3D. It is unclear whether this demo was intended to be a simple proof of concept or an idea for a new game.
As this is only a demo, there isn't much to do in this prototype. Clusters of 3D asteroids drift across the screen while rotating. After a short time, they begin to break up into smaller and smaller asteroids until the entire screen is filled with tiny asteroids. Shortly after, the asteroids disappear one by one until the screen is blank, then the demo starts again.
