Synopsis

Like other sports games from Bob Whitehead, 4th & Inches was praised upon release, as it combined the action of previous titles with the new strategic play calling feature. For the first time in a computer football game, players could choose from a number of games. The player first designates a formation, then chooses one of five plays based on that formation. These games included a large number of offensive strategies, including draws, loops, sweeps, and long bombs, among others. Defensive tactics were also varied, with the player able to choose a defensive formation based on what they thought the opponent was going to attempt.
