Akagi
Synopsis
Adaptation of the manga Akagi – Yami ni Oritatta Tensai by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. On a rainy night, Nangou plays mahjong to try to repay a huge life insurance debt... and loses badly. Then a 13-year-old boy appears. Pretending to the yakuza that he had called for help, Nangou continues the game. As he is about to give up a promising hand, the young boy stops him: “You will not survive if you do not agree to die.” Little by little, the advantage changes sides. During the next break, Nangou asks this prodigy, Akagi Shigeru, to play in his place during the next sessions. Thus begins the legend of mahjong, Akagi.
