Synopsis

In Alternate Reality: The City, you are one of many people abducted from Earth by aliens and transported to a parallel dimension where you find yourself in a strange, but familiar city. Your quest: explore the city and find the clues that will lead you to your captors and return home. In addition to the classic features of first-person RPGs of the time, such as skills, statistics, experience points and a wide choice of shops and places to visit, the game offers a moral evaluation of your character. Depending on your actions, you will become good or bad, which will influence how the environment reacts to you. Combat isn't limited to the turn-based system; you can also try to deceive, charm or corrupt your opponents. The story is non-linear: for example, you might take a job to improve a particular skill or simply to pass the time.
