Synopsis

Attack on Alpha Centauri is a fixed-screen shoot'em up similar to Galaxian.
Alpha Centauri is attacked by huge wasps. They swarm the planet while dropping devastating bombs.
The player must try to kill as many as he can before his inevitable death. The game plays like other shoot 'em ups from the early 80s. The player moves his spaceship left and right along the bottom of the screen while shooting the rows of wasps above him. The wasps start in stationary positions at the top, but over time they take turns moving down towards the player and dropping bombs. When all the wasps have been killed, they are replaced by a new, harder wave and the game continues until the player has lost all three lives. Points are given for each enemy killed. Stationary enemies are worth ten points while flying ones are worth one hundred.
