Synopsis
Bakumatsu Rock is a Japanese video game which was later adapted into a manga series (Bakumatsu Rock - Howling Soul). The story takes place in the Bakumatsu era, at the end of the rule of the shoguns over Japan, in the mid-19th century. The Tokugawa shogunate uses the songs of Heaven, brainwashed by the idols of the Shinsengumi, to subjugate the country and its people. In this Japan, writing or singing songs other than Songs of Heaven is a capital crime. Ry?ma Sakamoto and the other rockers rise up and change the world with rock 'n' roll for freedom and justice.
