Synopsis

Batatlan (Battle of the Atlantic – The Ocean Lifeline) is a naval strategy game. The game features five scenarios: Germany Attacks, England Alone, The Golden Days, Foreboding Horizons, and Victory at Sea, each with its own ending date.

Each turn represents a 14-day period. At the end of every two weeks, players may issue new commands to their fleet. Fleet size varies depending on the scenario selected. During each turn, orders can be assigned from the following commands: Patrol, Barrier, Join Group, Enter Escort Pool, Escort Convoy, Change Base, Rest in Port, and Become Group Leader.

Once orders have been issued, the scenario unfolds over the 14-day span, after which the computer provides an intelligence report detailing all major events and actions at sea. When the turn is complete, players are given another opportunity to issue new orders in response to the threats & developments described in the intelligence report. The game ends when it reaches the predefined completion date.
