Synopsis

BS Shin Onigashima is a 4-part downloadable Soundlink game for the Satellaview that aired in at least 2 separate series between September 29, 1996 and January 31, 1996. It is a sequel remake of the previous Shin Onigashima. The main difference between the two games is the SoundLink elements that were introduced for broadcasts on Satellaview. The plot of BS Shin Onigashima is taken from the original Shin Onigashima, but it is presented from the perspective of the three helper animals (dog, monkey, and pheasant) who join the heroes as a non-playable character (NPC) in the original game. The game was divided into 4 chapters which were kept for the later Nintendo Power and SFC remake. BS Shin Onigashima uses an extended orchestral score broadcast over satellite radio and in-game narration in the voice of the main character, Ittaisan, broadcast over SoundLink between chapters to advance the story. The game uses a command menu like in Shin Onigashima, but in BS Shin Onigashima, the ability to change characters mid-game has been removed. Other differences include the addition of platform-style action scenes and time limits associated with completing certain commands.
