Synopsis

Inspired by the arcade game Centipede, Bug Blaster is a single-screen shooter in which you must destroy a centipede that moves from the top of the screen. The centipede moves across the screen, and when it reaches the other side, it drops down one space and moves back across the screen. You control a spaceship at the bottom of the screen, shooting at the centipede while moving left or right, and you can also move forward and backward a short distance. Shooting the centipede a certain number of times splits it in half, and the resulting parts split again when shot multiple times.

Mushrooms are scattered around the screen, and when the centipede hits them, it changes direction; however, the mushrooms can be shot to make them disappear and earn points. Other creatures appear and must be shot or avoided; these include an insect that places more mushrooms, as well as spiders, scorpions, and snails. If you are hit by any of these creatures, you lose one of your three lives. Destroying all parts of the centipede takes you to the next level.
