Description

After the destruction of the city of Southtown by the Zero Cannon in 99/2000, Maria Heinlein (widow of Geese Howard) and her brother Kain (boss of Garou: Mark of the Wolves) set about building a replica of the SNK Dome, which disappeared in the explosion, in Tokyo. In this place a new bare-handed martial arts tournament will be established, the Buriki One, World Grapple Tournament.

Buriki One is therefore a 3D fighting game running on the Hyper Neo Geo 64. The atmosphere is more like an Ultimate Fighting tournament because here, no more special moves, you have to defeat your opponent with combos, chops or counters. Where the player will be confused is that the game offers a configuration that is unusual to say the least. Indeed, unlike all other games, Buriki One is played backwards: the stick is on the right and is used to hit, the buttons (2) are on the left and are used to move (by keeping the 2 buttons pressed, you can protect yourself). The game therefore requires a long learning curve. Additionally, the game offers a stamina bar. Clearly, Buriki One is rather reserved for persevering experts because its confusing gameplay and its production, which is very outdated today, will put off more than one person. But we must underline the efforts of SNK which has further innovated in the very heated world of fighting games.
