Catacomb
Synopsis
Catacomb is a 2D third-person shooter game created by John Carmack. It was originally developed for the Apple II and later ported to PC. Do not confuse it with The Catacomb, which is the second game in the series (initially titled Catacomb II but renamed later). It supports EGA and CGA graphics.
Catacomb consists of fifteen levels in the Apple II version, ten levels in the PC demonstration disk promoting Gamer's Edge, and 30 levels in the full PC version (The Catacomb, also known as Catacomb II). To advance to the next level, you must pass through a magical teleportation mirror. These mirrors are usually located behind locked doors, requiring you to find a key to proceed.
In the game, you play as the wizard Petton Everhail. At the beginning, you are contacted by Terexin, Grand Wizard of Kieralon, who tells you how the Kieralon Empire fell. He convinces you to go to the Kieralon Palace to recover its treasures and split them fifty-fifty.
