Synopsis

Change Air Blade, with its shoot 'em all feel, borrows heavily from beat 'em up. Indeed, from the start, you are given the choice between eight ships with different characteristics. And these are the other seven that you will have to fight, one by one, later. In "one player" mode, other enemies will still come and play spoilsport, just to distract you from the main goal. In "two player" mode, on the other hand, it will be one against one, each on one side of the screen, for a duel to the death!

And the Bosses in all this?
Well, when you have almost overcome your opponent, they appear to serve as a receptacle and thus increase his firepower tenfold. In the screenshot above, we can clearly see the fuselage of the plane opening to let in the enemy ship.

On the production side, the game is doing quite well with fine graphics although too dull and fluid animation (special mentions to the explosions and differential scrolling). The music, repetitive, is on the other hand a little below.

The gameplay is varied and uses three buttons to trigger attacks (a primary fire which can be upgraded and strengthened if you leave the button pressed, a special attack, and a secondary fire which you obtain by collecting bonuses).

In short, a game that really deserves to be tried, especially with two players (a change from Street Fighter or Samurai Shodown!)
