Synopsis
Chess is one of the oldest PC games ever created: it was written in March 1980 and converted for the IBM PC in December 1981. It is probably the very first chess game running under MS-DOS.
Given its age, it's no surprise that the game only features text-based graphics. The chessboard and pieces are drawn using ASCII characters. For the same reason, it is not surprising that the only interface available is the keyboard.
In Chess there is no multiplayer mode - you only play against the computer. As usual in this type of game, you can choose the skill level of the artificial intelligence.
