Synopsis

Chulip opens with a dream sequence in which the unnamed male protagonist kisses the girl he loves under the "lovers tree" speaking on a green hillside. The dream runs its course, the tree ends the sequence by saying that they lived happily ever after. However, once the protagonist wakes up, he and his father have just moved into Long Life Town, which is very similar to a small Japanese village. Coincidentally, the girl of his dreams lives in this town, but she flatly rejects him due to his status as coming from a very poor family. Following his father's advice, the hero decides to embrace the city's few citizens in order to strengthen his heart and improve his reputation. Along the way, he also decides to write a love letter to his crush. When this precious set of papers is stolen, he must search Long Life Town for the missing pieces. The hero's journey involves many bizarre incidents that lead him to work his way to the top of a major corporation, come into contact with aliens, and act as a defense attorney in court. Once the three pieces of the love letter (the ink, paper and pen) have been collected, he writes it and sends it by mail to the young girl. The ending of the game shows the two meeting and kissing under the Lovers' Tree, as the protagonist had dreamed.
