Synopsis

Colonial Trader is an adventure game for Commodore 64. Combining shoot'em up and economic simulation, it is reminiscent of Elite, the game begins with the inheritance of the player's father, who bequeaths him colonial credits. Thanks to this starting capital, the player acquires a used multi-purpose glider and begins a career as a trader between different colonies. The goal is to improve one's glider through trade and skillful space navigation, in order to become a successful trader. The graphics alternate between an aerial view of space, reminiscent of Asteroids, and static menus in space stations. The game is accompanied by intro music and menu sounds, while only a few isolated sound effects are audible in-game.
