Synopsis

Darius was Taito's answer to competing with R-Type and other Gradius in theaters. Technically impressive, it had three screens. Visually and aurally it was a class above the Irem and Konami versions.
When the game was ported to home machines, they were forced to shrink the playing field to the size of a single screen, and renamed it Darius Plus.

The two heroes, Proco Jr. and Tiat Young, fight against threats made up of galactic fish and other marine animals.
Darius is distinguished by a certain freedom; At the end of each zone (level), you can choose one or other of the ramifications, which encouraged you to replay since the end of the game could be reached via different paths.
The gameplay is simplistic due to the unoriginal attack waves, the weak interaction with the environment and the very basic bonus system, far from the richness of the R-Type and Gradius mentioned above.
