Synopsis

Tom Cruise's film brought NASCAR racing to the masses, and Mindscape did the same for video game players with this license. If one mentally changes the names of the drivers, one can consider this to be a recreation of the real NASCAR races rather than a direct recreation of the film. nnnnYou play as Cruise's character, Cole Trickle (his name, like many others, is slightly different from that of a real NASCAR racer of the era), and you compete against your rivals on 8 circuits, based on real-life counterparts. The races all take place on oval circuits, although the exact lengths, types of turns and gradients vary. This means that the ideal racing line on one circuit can send you into the wall on another. Qualifying is built into the races themselves.nnnnFrom time to time you will need to stop at the aid zone. You then control the five members of the pit crew. Losing time in the pits will cause you to lose places in the race. The other riders never stop at the pits.
