Synopsis

"Decisive Battles of the American Civil War, Vol. 1" puts the player in the role of a general during six battles of the American Civil War – including Bull Run, Shiloh, and Antietam. Beyond issuing orders, the player can decide how actively to engage in combat. Commands can only be given to nearby brigades, while subordinates with their own experience and leadership abilities influence execution. Outside the range of communication, only strategic foresight remains. The game delivers a fast-paced simulation with one-hour turns, limited reconnaissance, and a strong focus on casualties and morale. Maps, reports, and a straightforward command menu assist in planning. Victory points are determined by losses and control objectives. Adjustable difficulty levels, a two-player mode, and scenario editors expand the strategic options.
