Synopsis

Defender is one of the first shoot'em up games as we know them. Despite its 20 years and its slightly annoying sounds, Defender still remains pleasant to play, in particular thanks to the animation which gives a pleasant impression of speed when you move forward.

The big difficulty, at the time of the arcade game, was finding your way around the buttons that surrounded the joystick. This makes the game quite difficult at first - the beginner's life expectancy is often very short. Customizing the Inputs can simplify handling: for example, for those who have a joystick, it is preferable to put the throttle in Axis-X + and -, and put the Reverse in Button 1 instead of the throttle. The Bomb (Button 2) clears the screen, as it should.
