Synopsis

Derby Stallion enters the 5th generation of consoles. The horse management simulation returns with new additions. Players can now choose their jockey's clothing, the auction market has changed from weekly to monthly, the number of horses competing has increased (16 for PSX, 18 for Saturn), and the weight of horses is now taken into account during the race simulation. The Saturn version also has some minor additions, including the Oi Racecourse during the Breeders' Cup and the introduction of a selection aspect to breeding. Players must attempt to create selections from multiple bloodlines with the same type of inbreeding, thereby multiplying the inbreeding effect. This is believed to make it possible to breed extremely fast racehorses.
