Description

In this sequel to the 1982 classic, "Dig Dug," Namco has changed the perspective of the game from a cutaway to an overhead view. The action now takes place on a series of small islands. The gameplay itself retains much of its predecessor, still pursued by the "Pookas" (round, wearing red glasses) and the "Fygers" (green, fire-breathing dragons).
As with the first game, Dig Dug is still armed with a pump that allows him to inflate and burst enemies. But he is also armed with a jackhammer. This can be used on the round earth stakes scattered around each island to create and connect fault lines in the ground. If both ends of a rift system reach water, the land around them will sink into the ocean, killing any creatures there, including Dig Dug himself if he is on the destroyed part of the land.
