Discworld 2
Synopsis
Discworld II: Mortality Bytes! is the second point-and-click adventure game based on Terry Pratchett's series of fantasy novels set on the mythical Discworld. The game was developed and produced in 1996 by Perfect Entertainment for PC, and ported in 1997 for PlayStation and Sega Saturn. It was published by Psygnosis for PC and PlayStation, and by Sega for Saturn (Europe only).
In Discworld II, the player controls Rincewind the "wizard" (voiced by Eric Idle, as in the previous game) who has the task of compelling Death to leave his impromptu retirement and return to his usual duties. The plot borrows from a number of Discworld books, including Reaper Man, Moving Pictures, and Lords and Ladies.
It all begins on a quiet street in Ankh-Morpork, where Rincewind and the Librarian inexplicably fail to die due to the explosion of a nearby booby-trapped cart. This strange occurrence is not shared by them alone, however: reports of new deaths waking and disturbing the populace are being reported across the city, prompting the Archchancellor of the Unseen University to cease his usual activities of feasting and revelry, and take charge of the situation. Much to Rincewind's dismay, this entire process involves setting him to the task of finding Death and convincing him to return to his work.
