Don't Panic
Synopsis
It may seem strange to use a word like "tradition" in relation to computers, but role-playing text adventures were among the first games developed for the ancient mainframe monsters.
Clive Johnson's Towers of Death and The Ice of Kingdom are the two fine modern examples of this art. In each case, you play as the hero, who is sent in search of a treasure item. With each move your location is described, and you must decide on your next course of action. Sometimes there is a simple choice of direction. Should you enter a castle, explore a log cabin, or move along a path? If you come across an item, should you take it with you, in case it comes in handy later?
