Synopsis

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (Doragon Kuesuto Fo Michibikareshi Monotachi in Japan and Dragon Warrior IV in the US) is a role-playing game on NES whose story is separated into 5 chapters. The first four each focus on a particular character, and the fifth chapter brings together the 4 characters in the same team. This game is distinguished by its strategic aspect which favors placement over the individual power of each hero.
It all begins with the strange disappearance of all the children of the kingdom of Bastione. The king, worried, then decides to send his best and most faithful element, Ragnar, the captain of the royal soldiers, to investigate this tragedy. On the other side of the continent, the young Tsarina of Zamoksva, Alina, wants to leave her father's castle and go on an adventure. In Lakanabe, Torneko dreams of opening a weapons store: he works for a merchant and knows everything about this business but does not have enough money to start his own business and work on his own. He decides to leave his wife and son to go to the desert in the hope of becoming the largest arms dealer in the world. Mina and Maya, two sisters, daughters of Mahabala, a renowned alchemist, mysteriously murdered, decide to leave their cabaret to avenge the death of their father. Mina is a fortune teller and Maya is an outstanding dancer. In the last chapter of the game, the hero - you -, after the devastation of your village, gradually finds all the characters whose adventures we experienced in the previous chapters. Thus, Ragnar, Alina (as well as Borya the magician and Kiryl the priest, who accompany Alina), Torneko, Mina and Maya will join forces to fight a common enemy, Psaro the Exterminator, the master of Evil.
