Synopsis

Dragonflight is a fantasy role-playing game mainly inspired by the Ultima series. There is no character creation and the player is immediately put in control of the four protagonists as a group. World travel and city navigation are displayed in a top-down perspective; the interiors of the houses are not represented graphically. Dungeons, on the other hand, are done in a pseudo-3D first-person style, similar to Dungeon Master. The game's progression is not linear, with the player able to move to most locations from the start. Monsters are sometimes encountered wandering the wasteland and are also found in fixed locations in dungeons. When combat begins, the game switches to a side-scrolling view with a grid displayed above. The player can move characters around the battlefield, attack with melee or ranged weapons, and cast spells, all on a turn-based basis. Experience points are awarded for defeating monsters. Characters can also learn magic by mixing reagents and choosing between the black and white schools. The game can be saved at any time on the overworld. There is no auto-mapping feature.
