Synopsis
With the 2002 World Cup tournament fast approaching, it's no surprise that there are console soccer games in spades right now. Since EA got the official license for the World Cup in the United States, other sports game makers have been doing their best to stand out and convince soccer fans that their game is the one. The range is pretty clearly defined: SEGA's games are aimed at arcade gamers, FIFA leans more on the simulation side, and Midway's RedCard falls somewhere in between. Konami, the favorite of soccer fans in Europe and Japan, joins the fray with the American incarnation of its popular Winning Eleven.
